Look at those ears...

Hi Everyone!  The puppies are growing and getting pudgy.  When they were born their ears were flat to their head and now some of them are starting to stick out.  I just had to show you because I thought it was cute.
Look at that face.  The eyes won't be opening for another three to seven days.
I just love how they climb all over each other, trying to get in the right position.
And look at these ears...I just had to chuckle and take his picture to share with you.  Don't you just want to pick them up and snuggle.
I can't wait until they are up and moving around, that's when the real fun begins.
And this one always seems to be away from the group.  Maybe she doesn't like to be climbed on...
But these four like to be together.  And the one at the top is trying to snuggle under the blanket.  Sometimes I go in to look at them and can only see three of them so I know I have to check the blanket to find the others.  If you're interested in a puppy, let me know.  Thanks for stopping by.

Gaining weight already...

Bailey and her pups are doing great.  And Bailey is a great 1st time mom.  Here's a picture of her with her pups after they were born.
And here are the pups at five days old.  It's a subtle difference, but they are gaining weight.  You can tell their bellies are fuller.  I was just sure they were gaining weight so I put them all on the scale as a group.  When they went to the vet on Thursday, they weighed as a group almost 6 1/2 pounds.  As of yesterday, they weighed 8 1/2 pounds.

Aren't they cute?  If you're interested in a puppy, contact me.  I'm going to start advertising them soon.  I'll keep you updated on their growth and progress.  Thanks for stopping by.

First Vet appointment...

Bailey and her pups went to the vet yesterday.  Everyone checked out good and the dew claws were removed.  The pups weighed in at 1 pound to 1.4 pounds.  So no runts in this litter.
My folks went with me to the vet so that they could see the pups and lend a helping hand.  Bailey was very good about letting the pups out of her sight but was very glad to get them back.  When we were all done, I put her in the car first and then the box with the pups in and she immediately removed the blanket from the top of the box and put her head in to check on them.  It was the sweetest sight.

The Puppies have arrived...

Bailey had her puppies last night.  It was a long night, but all are doing well.  She has three males and two females.  All five are chocolates.  We will be going to the vet to have everyone checked out, but they all seem healthy.  I have added the puppy pictures to the puppy page.

It's time for some rest now.
Thanks for stopping by.

An update...

Does that look like the face of a dog that's uncomfortable and ready to deliver?  I think it does.  She looks a little worried to me.  I think it's actually the camera in her face and not that she's worried about delivering.

But I could be wrong.

We went to the vet on Monday and Bailey is having 5 puppies for sure and possibly 6.  It was difficult to get a clear x-ray.  She's uncomfortable to say the least.  Last night she was up every hour needing to go out.  And she has started nesting.  So it won't be long now.  I'll keep you posted.

Bailey and Bo...

I'd like to introduce you to my dogs Bailey and Bo.  They are both chocolate labs.  Bailey is three years old and Bo is a year old.  In this picture Bailey's about a year old.  She loves to play fetch with her tennis ball in the pasture, in the field, or in the house.  She's quite the hunter and will point and flush game.
This is my boy Bo.  He's almost a year old.  He loves to chase the cats and play with Bailey.
Bo is lovable, likes to cuddle and follows me everywhere.
And Bailey's having puppies sometime toward the end of March or the start of April.
As you can see, she's really getting big.  I don't know yet the size of the litter, but hopefully I'll know next week when I take her to the vet.  If you are interested in a puppy, let me know.
